Hannah Lewis Scunthorpe

About

Hannah is an accomplished vocal and performance coach whose career spans over two decades of teaching, performing and arts education leadership. Her practice is rooted in a holistic, neuro-inclusive philosophy, integrating voice science, movement and playful, exploratory learning to support each performer as a whole, adaptable instrument. Known for her ability to unlock authentic, reliable vocal function across singers, actors and dancers, she helps performers develop both technical excellence and artistic confidence.
With a deep commitment to ongoing professional development, Hannah has trained extensively in evidence-based vocal pedagogy, vocal health and neurodiversity. Her training includes Estill, Rayvox SOVT, LAMDA teacher training, the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism (RQF) and Vocal Health First Aider certification, supported by a broad portfolio of specialist CPD with Teach Voice, Voice Workshop, Vocal Process and Vocal Health Education.
Hannah’s students consistently achieve exceptional outcomes, including a 100% pass rate across vocal, musical theatre, acting and instrumental examinations with Trinity College London, ABRSM, LAMDA and MBA. Their successes span festivals, competitions, associate programmes and entry into leading vocational colleges such as LIPA, GSA, Urdang, Bird College, Laine Theatre Arts, Italia Conti and London Studio Centre. Many progress into professional work, with recent highlights including a pupil currently touring in Matilda and a former student newly signed to a major record label (Polydor). Her coaching supports performers entering both the commercial music industry and internationally recognised theatre training and employment.
Originally trained in music, dance and musical theatre from early childhood, Hannah earned her BSc (Hons) in Music from City University, undertaking practical studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She subsequently worked professionally as a dancer, singer, entertainer and musician with companies including Pop Management, Princess Cruises, TUI, MTV, ITV and multiple regional musical theatre companies.
Since completing her PGCE and QTS in 2008, Hannah has taught widely across primary, secondary and specialist performing arts settings throughout Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. Her roles have included arts specialist, classroom teacher, vocal and instrumental tutor and peripatetic practitioner—both independently through HLOMusic and in schools via Session Player. She has taught for Theatretrain Leeds, Kimberley School of Arts (including their extended diploma with John Leggott College), Alexandra Ray Talent, The Theatre Coach youth choir, Bishop Grosseteste University (Rock & Pop Vocals) and ElliTeStudios College. She currently teaches as part of the Musical Theatre faculty at the University of Lincoln.
A significant part of Hannah’s pedagogical identity lies in her work with dancers. Drawing on her professional dance background, she integrates somatic awareness, functional movement and choreographic demands into vocal training, helping dancers access breath, resonance and vocal freedom through the body. Her movement-rich sessions support alignment, release and expressive range, bridging technique with artistry.
Alongside her performing arts work, Hannah has held senior assessment and quality-assurance roles requiring high-level analytical, leadership and evaluative skills—experience that underpins her rigorous and reflective approach to student development and performance outcomes.

Hannah has been teaching my daughter for several years now and is the most kind and patient teacher. She has taken the time to get to know my daughter and teaches her in a way that works just for her. Not only has she helped with singing and acting technique but she has really helped her build her confidence. I can't thank Hannah enough for everything she does!

Hannah is a fantastic vocal coach and mentor, full of positive energy and loveliness, we highly recommend her and will be forever grateful. My Son has improved leaps and bounds from his very first lesson and we hear improvements in his voice and tone constantly. Within a year he has made the final auditions for a popular children's pop group and also secured a 12 month contract with a popular musical theatre national tour! Absolutely incredible work! We thank you immensely for your time, encouragement, guidance and friendship. Appreciated so much!

Hannah is a truly exceptional tutor, not only nurturing her students in their chosen medium, but aiding in the growth of their self confidence, too! Which is such a strong asset as a tutor, especially when working with children. My daughter's confidence has grown exponentially, since singing with Hannah and I'm so eternally grateful for that.

My daughter has been having singing lessons with Hannah for several years now and I can honestly say she is the most incredible teacher. Hannah has worked with Ava to achieve a distinction in her last two MT exams and is currently working towards her third. Alongside exams Hannah has also coached Ava to winning performances at local dance and music festivals, teaching her not only to sing and control her voice but also building her confidence so much that she just loves to get on stage and perform. I can't recommend or thank Hannah enough.xx

I have been working with Hannah for many years and have always found her lessons to be a productive and comfortable environment to work in. Not only does she support my vocal needs in the lessons but also every other aspect of day to day life, making time to get to know my lifestyle and how other areas may be affecting what I seek to achieve in my lessons. I have maintained a desire to work with Hannah after moving to drama school and she has always been understanding and accommodating to ensure I can still benefit from the teaching she provides. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Hannah is a fantastic, patient music teacher who fits lessons to each individuals goals. Her bespoke approach to lessons has ignited the passion in my daughter to play piano again after loosing interest in playing at junior school. Not wanting to do graded piano work was not an issue. My daughter has really enjoyed learning pieces of music that she enjoys and with Hannahs extensive musical background, she has kept her engaged. She particularly enjoys it when they play a piece together. Offering lessons via zoom when it is not possible to meet face to face is an added bonus.
